Abstract

Poly(4′‐methyl‐4‐vinyl‐2,2′‐bipyridine) has been prepared as have various copolymers with divinylbenzene. When polymerization is carried out in the presence of metal ions (Ni^2+^, Co^2+^, Cu^2+^) a metal‐containing copolymer is obtained which, when the metal ion is removed with acid, retains some memory of the original chelating metal.
