✦ Synopsis
An apparatus was constructed for determination of thermal diffusivity of green carbons while they are undergoing the process of baking. Using data obtained, the radial temperature distribution resulting from controlled linear heating is calculated for cylindrical electrodes. The calculations show that under commercial conditions only small temperature differences arise between the surface and the axis; that is that conditions nearly isothermal prevail within the body.
