Abstract

From a study of temperature data at Resolute, Northwest Territories, it is shown that in the Arctic regions the time of minimum temperature occurs near the end of February or in early March. This delay, relative to the corresponding time in temperate latitudes, is a result of the lack of incoming radiation during the polar night. Because of fog off open water in late July, the maximum temperature occurs during the second week of July.
