Temperature programmed desorption (TPD) studies of copper atoms were conducted on sapphire (0001) surfaces. Submonolayer to multimonolayer coverages of copper atoms were deposited onto the surfaces at room temperature. Subsequent copper desorption spectra at submonolayer coverages showed two peaks.
