## Abstract In the liquid‐crystalline polymer poly(__p__‐phenylene terephthalate) with dodecyloxy side chains the various possible crystalline structures of the side chain layers determine the mechanical and dielectric behaviour in the solid state. In this investigation the influence of replacement
