✦ Synopsis

Optical transmittivity in the UV-VIS region of thermally evaporated amorphous As 2 S 3 , and As 2 Se 3 thin films was measured in the temperature region 15 K Ͻ T Յ 300 K: The temperature dependence of the optical gap E g T was found to be in agreement with Fan's one-phonon approximation or with Cody's one-oscillator model. The parameters necessary to describe the E g T dependences for non-crystalline Se, As 2 S 3 , As 2 Se 3 , GeS 2 and GeSe 2 , according to a simple linear relation, Varshni's relation, and Fan's or Cody's model are summarized.

Photodarkening relaxation under light exposure of a-As 2 Se 3 amorphous films doped with 0.5 at.% of metals Sn, Mn, Sm or Dy and a-AsSe films doped with Sn up to 10.0 at.% Sn was studied in dependence on the impurity and thermal treating. Both factors reduce photodarkening and the degree of reductio
