✦ Synopsis

The formation of IncM plasmid encoded pili is dependent on the incubation temperature of the corresponding host strains.

By labelling the short, rigid M pili with the donor specific bacteriophage DM, the presence of pili a t 30 "C but not a t 37 "C incubation temperature could be demonstrated for E. coli K12 substrains carrying different IncM group plasmids. In contrast, such a temperature dependence of M pilus formation is not observed in S. typhimurium substrains.

The aim of this study was to expose the inflated 3-D structure of lung elastin. Formic acid digestion followed by freeze-drying unveiled the lamellar framework. The 3-D structure of elastin was well preserved within the alveolar septa and ducts, as demonstrated by scanning electron microscopy/stereo

A decreased intensity of STD signals is observed for lactose binding to growth‐regulatory galectin7 (p53‐induced gene 1), as well as for nucleotide binding to ann
