โฆ Synopsis
This manual is an updated version of the well-known FAO/WHO publication Laboratory Techniques in Brucellosis, which it partially replaces. It is aimed primarily at the veterinary laboratory worker and is a companion to the recent WHO book A Guide to the Diagnosis, Treatment and Prevention of Human Brucellosis.
The original format of the FAO/WHO manual has been retained, with chapters on bacteriological methods, serological methods, allergic reactions, and production of vaccines. Much of the original text has been rewritten. The ELISA test is now included, as is a short section on the testing for virulence of Brucella and a useful address list of reagent and equipment suppliers.
The overall size of the book is the same as the one it supersedes, even though it actually contains 25 more pages.
The authors describe with great precision the steps necessary to carry out the various techniques, and the manual will therefore continue to be the principal laboratory reference book for those working in the field of animal brucellosis.
