Technip awarded contract for a syngas plant in China

T echnip has been awarded a basic design and engineering package contract by Sinopec Yangzi Petrochemical Co Ltd (YPC) for a syngas plant located in Nanjing, China.

This plant will have a capacity of 25 000 m 3 /h of carbon monoxide (CO), 16 000 m 3 /h of oxo gas (a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide which, upon reaction with an olefin, produces oxo-alcohols used in the fabrication of plastics and detergents), and 59 000 m 3 /h of hydrogen. It will be based on Technip's proprietary reformer technology and Air Products' proprietary cryogenic CO purification technology. The plant is expected to become operational in 2009.
