Abstract

The tautomerism of alkyl 2‐benzothiazolyl‐malonates and 2‐oxobenzodihydrothiazol‐3‐yl‐malonates was studied by ^1^H, ^13^C and ^15^N NMR spectroscopy. 2‐Benzothiazolylmalonates isomerize in solution to the NH tautomers with an intramolecular hydrogen bond between the NH …︁ OC groups, whereas 2‐oxobenzodihydrothiazol‐3‐yl‐malonates are in the CH forms. The complete assignments of the ^13^C NMR resonances are reported.
