Talk It Up!, the first book of an oral communication series for intermediate-and advanced-level adult ESL students, is based on a model of oral communication that includes skills such as listening, speaking, accuracy, pronunciation, and fluency. Each chapter contains activities that focus on each of these elements separately, leading to activities that require students to incorporate all of the oral skills. An audiotape accompanies the text, with recordings of dialogues for listening comprehension practice and portions of those dialogues for pronunciation practice. The eight chapters are titled Friends, Feeling at Home, Making Connections, The World of Work, School Choices/Life Opportunities, Money Matters, Help, and Consumer Decisions.
