✦ Synopsis
In October 1981 in Warsaw died Tadeusz Kotarbifiski, the distinguished philosopher whose scientific output covers also numerous logical issues.
:Known mainly as the founder of praxiology, the general theory of efficient action, it was Kotarbifiski who formulated the programme for praxiological investigations. Starting with constructing a conceptual foundation for the theory, he systematically realized the p r o g r a m m e . In his h m d a m e n t M work in the area (~)raxiology. First Polish edition 1955), he analyses concepts such as: act, cause, tool, work, fight, error, product, goal, plan, acting subject, etc., with the help of which any action can be described. There, he defines also terms by means of which action can be evaluated with respect to its goal. Finally, he formulates the most general directives for such actions which are positively evaluated from the practicM viewpoint.
