T h e Committee for the Erection of a LIEBIG MONUMENT in Darmstadt, the place of Liebig's birth, has the honour of submitting to you the enclosed appeal, with the request for a personal contribution and for your assistance in making the movement known among those of your friends who take an interest in Chemistry.

T h e proposal to raise a memorial in honour of LIEBIG in his native town, which enjoys the patronage of H.R. H. the Grand Duke of Hesse, was originated on the occasion of the centenary celebrations which took place in Darmstadt last year.
