## Abstract It is shown that a repetitive pulse sequence consisting of two 90Β° pulses and gradients in a 1:2 ratio around the second 90Β° pulse generates interscan shifted stimulated echoes (SSTEs) and intrascan multiple spin echoes (MSEs). Separation of these two types of signals is accomplished us

Abstract
A new pulse sequence for fast multislice T~1~ mapping is presented. This method is based on calculating T~1~ from spin echo (SE) and stimulated echo (STE) images obtained with different degrees of T~1~ weighting, and uses the interleaved acquisition scheme of the fast phase acquisition of composite echoes (FastPACE) technique. In contrast to the FastPACE technique, the two echoes are sampled separately. Experimental comparisons confirm that the new sequence layout overcomes most of the FastPACE restrictions, such as its motion sensitivity and the need for a fully complex data set. Moreover, this method offers a higher precision for long T~1~ values and a further reduction of acquisition time. Magn Reson Med 46:1242β1245, 2001. Β© 2001 WileyβLiss, Inc.

Normally, cardiac triggering in MR spin-echo imaging restricts repetition times (TR) to integral values of the cardiac period (TC), and introduces irregularities in TR due to variations in TC. We have investigated how much these restrictions decrease the accuracy and precision of spin-lattice relaxa
The conventional stimulated-echo NMR sequence only measures the longitudinal component while discarding the transverse component, after tipping up the prepared magnetization. This transverse magnetization can be used to measure a spin echo, in addition to the stimulated echo. Two-dimensional single-
