## Abstract Modification of the chemistry and surface topography of nanophase ceramics was used to provide biomaterial formulations designed to direct the adhesion and proliferation of human mesenchymal stem cells (HMSCs). HMSC adhesion was dependent upon both the substrate chemistry and grain size
