✦ Synopsis
Novozymes has signed a loan agreement with NIB whereby it will receive €30 M to fund research and development in the area of biofuel production from waste and crop residues. This replaces an earlier loan from NIB. A new generation of enzymes will be used to produce biofuels from the stems, leaves, and husks of plants. It is estimated that the carbon footprint for bioethanol production from cellulose-containing crop residues will be 90% less than that for conventional petrol production.
