✦ Synopsis
Nippon Shokubai to set up integrated catalyst research centre
All of Nippon Shokubai's catalystresearch facilities are to be consolidated on 1 Apr 2010 to form its GSC Catalyst Technology Research Center. The move is designed to speed up the exchange of expertise and technologies in the areas of chemical-process catalysts, biotechnology-related catalysts, and fuel-cell materials among its scientists. GSC, which stands for green sustainable energy, will bring under one roof existing catalyst-related technologies, including pollution-control catalysts and process catalysts being studied at its research units in Himeji and Kawasaki, and biocatalysts and new energy-associated technologies being advanced in Suita, Tsukuba, and Himeji, all in Japan. The new centre will have around 100 employees, or roughly 25% of the firm's R&D workforce.
