&,AT species inactivated by collagenase and stromelysin. Analysis of a,AT immunoprecipitated from SF by MAb AT-1 (which recognizes all forms of a, AT [4]) revealed that the relative concentrations of a,AT with M, of 51,000 and M, of 47,000 corresponded to the levels of inactivated and of total a,AT. Therefore, the discrepancy between our findings and those of Chidwick et a1 most likely was not due to the lack of detection of some forms of inactivated a,AT in SF by our assay.
