His mental status improved dramatically, and there was no further seizure activity. The subsequent course was complicated by a proximal myopathy that involved the shoulder and pelvic girdles and was attributed to high-dose corticosteroid therapy, but the patient was discharged in good condition on February 9, 1982, with his prednisone decreased to 30 mg daily.
