โœฆ Synopsis

A linear relationship exists between annealing temperatures and activation energies of fission tracks for different minerals. The temperature and activation energy needed to erase 50% of the tracks in minerals depend on the lattice energy per mole. These relationships make possible predictions about the stability of tracks in silicates, provided their chemicM composition is known or a few isoehronM annealing data are available.

An empirical formula relating annealing rate, Va, and activation energy of annealing, Ea, is used to describe the annealing process in solid state nuclear track detectors and a three step annealing model is proposed. The activation energies for annealing are calculated and found that these vary fro
