✦ Synopsis

A number of 7,8‐dihydroquinolinones are prepared by cyclocondensation of aminocyclohexenone with β‐dicarbonyl precursors.

The structure of the bicyclic derivatives so obtained is determinated and a reactive scheme is proposed to explain how these compounds are formed.
