โœฆ Synopsis

A new hean$orming technique ,jbr Sampled Aperture Radar (SAMAR) is presented. The new approach utilizes u sequential mode operation which doubles the sl3stem's resolution und improves the SNR by about 30 log N dB, where N is the size of the urruy. Also the side lobes are about -27 dB, thus extra tapering is not required. In this case, the echo signals are stored and collected on the basis of equal phase. An ir$wmation sequence qf all the echo signuls is synthesized. Then, samples of the i@rmation sequence are properly wei~ghted in phuse to synthesize multiple beams in all desired directions within the array's field of'rie~,. The technique is illustrated by un example.
