The studies feature the transformation of etoposide 1 into the pivotal intermediate (+)-19 for the elaboration of pyridazine-fused aromatic systems via a Stille cross-coupling. The synthesis of A-ring pyridazine picroetoposide (+)-21 has been achieved in 11 steps.
