## Abstract Particle monolayer formation at the airโ€“water interface by polymerโ€grafted colloidal silica was investigated. Methyl methacrylate (MMA) was polymerized from initiative bromide groups at colloidal silica surface by atom transfer radical polymerization. We obtained polymerโ€grafted silica
