✦ Synopsis

This review covers the various synthetic routes to the carbocyclic and furanoid fatty acids, and examines numerous refinements to such schemes to improve the yield or to permit extension of the procedure to novel compounds. The occurrence of these unusual fatty acids in nature is also briefly reviewed.
