## Abstract Thieno[2,3‐__b__]indole derivatives were efficiently prepared __via__ the reaction of 1,3‐dihydro‐2__H__‐indole‐2‐thiones with __α__‐bromo‐substituted ketones or aldehydes and in the presence of Et~3~N (__Scheme 2__ and __Table__). The reaction took place under very mild conditions and
