✦ Synopsis

Singlet oxygenation of olefins 3 and 6 affords selectively the corresponding 1,2-dioxetanes bearing a phenylethenyl group (1) or a phenylethynyl group (2), which possess marked thermal stability. Treatment of siloxy-substituted analogs lb and 2b with tetrabutylammonium fluoride in DMSO causes the charge transferinduced decomposition of the dioxetanes to yield red light.
