โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

The first organometallic miktoarm star copolymer, PFS(PI)~3~ (PFSโ€‰=โ€‰polyferrocenyldimethylsilane, PIโ€‰=โ€‰polyisoprene) with PDI of 1.04 was synthesized through anionic polymerization by using SiCl~4~ as the coupling agent and its wellโ€defined structure was characterized by using GPC and ^1^H NMR spectroscopy. In contrast to analogous diblock copolymers with similar PFS volume fractions which selfโ€assemble to form cylindrical structures, PFS(PI)~3~ formed unimolecular micelles in the PI selective solvent, hexane.

The synthetic strategies available for the synthesis of miktoarm star (-star) polymers with molecular weight, chemical, or topological asymmetry are reviewed. All strategies are based on functional living polymer chains and linking agents. Although each strategy has its weak and strong points, it se
