✦ Synopsis
bond lengths and angles in the carbaboranyl-sandwich 5b are similar to those in 4b['01. Since the isolobal C3B3hQand CSHp-ligands each contribute five electrons to the complex formation, the 2,3,5-tricarbahexaboranyl compounds 4, 5, and Ni(5)2 are the electronic analogues of the corresponding qs-cyclopentadienyl(2,3-dihydro-1 H-1,3-diborolyl)nickel complexes. Thus, like the paramagnetic triple-decker sandwich 6["], 4 has 33 valence electrons.
