Fourteen novel substituted N‐[4(5‐methyl/phenyl‐1,3,4‐oxadiazol‐2‐yl)‐3,6‐dihydropyridin‐1(2__H__)‐yl] benzamide/benzene sulfonamides (11a, 11b, 11c, 11d, 11e, 11f, 11g, 11h, 11i, 11j, 11k, 11l, 11m, 11n) were synthesized in fair to good yields via sodium borohydride reduction of the corresponding substituted N‐(benzoylimino)‐4‐(5‐methyl/5‐phenyl‐1,3,4‐oxadiazol‐2yl) pyridinium ylide 10a, 10b, 10c, 10d, 10e, 10f, 10g, 10h, 10i, 10j, 10k, 10m, 10n in absolute ethanol.
