ring has the same interatomic distances as in cyclopro-~e n e [ ~] .

The benzocyclopropene system is not quite planar; the three-membered and the six-membered ring form an angle of 1.5k0.5". The planes of the two phenyl substituents in the crystal are twisted by 3.1 and 8.2" from the plane of the benzene ring in the benzocyclopropene system.
