✦ Synopsis
A~tract--A series of wholly aromatic polyhydrazides was prepared by low temperature solution polycondensation of N-(p/m-hydrazinocarbonyl)phenyl aminoacetic acid hydrazides and various diacid chlorides in dry N,N-dimethylacetamide. The properties of the polyhydrazides were evaluated by i.r. spectra, inherent viscosity, solubility, differential thermal and thermogravimetric analysis to characterize the polymeric materials for membrane processing. The inherent viscosities in concentrated sulphuric acid were in the range of 0.18q).39. The thermogravimetric data in air indicate that the polyhydrazides start to decompose in the range of 180-200 ° and the steep weight loss of the polymers took place from 300 ° to 550 c.
