✦ Synopsis
Abstract
Six new 2‐aryl‐N‐biphenyl benzimidazoles were designed and synthesized, starting with O‐phenylenediamine and carboxylic acids via cyclization, followed by N‐alkylation. All new compounds were identified by H NMR, IR, MS spectra and elemental analysis. The crystal structure of methyl 4′‐[(2‐p‐chlorophenyl‐1__H__ benzimidazole‐1‐yl)methyl]biphenyl‐2‐carboxylate (4f) was determined by single crystal X‐raydiffraction.
