✦ Synopsis
New Constant Rate Thermal Analysis (CRTA) equipment has been developed that permits the synthesis of SIC from carbothermal reduction of silica under both constant reaction rate and constant partial pressure of the CO generated in the reaction. It has been suggested that this method improves the formation of whiskers.
