Polymers carrying phosphonate, thiophosphanate, phosphonic and thionophospbonic halide groups at one or both ends were synthesized in one step. Anionic polymerization was used and the living ends were deactivated with respectively dialkyl chlorophosphate, dialkyl chlorothiophosphate, phosphorus oxyhalide or phosphorus thiohalide with subsequent treatment with alcohol or water for the last two cases.
