✦ Synopsis

Platinum-II/olefin complexes have been suggested as intermediate species during hydrosilation of olefins. In this work we have investigated the possibility to use Pt n complexes, such as norbornadiene/ Ptn complex, as catalysts for step-polymerization without side-reactions, instead of PT sv compounds like H2PtCI6. We have used this complex to copolymerize 1,4-bis(dimethylsilyl)benzene with respectively norbornadiene, 5-vinyl [2,2,1]-bicyclo hept-2-ene and 4-vinylcyclohexene.
