Abstract

Eleven novel five‐membered PSe~2~C~2~ heterocycles have been synthesised from [PhP(Se)(μ‐Se)]~2~ (Woollins' reagent) and alkynes (one or two C≡C triple bonds) by insertion of a Ph(Se)PSe~2~ fragment into alkyne triple bonds. An unusual diselenide formed by an intramolecular cycloaddition/rearrangement is also reported.
