4,5-Dihydroimidazoles undergo an N-alkylation and 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition cascade with unsaturated a-bromoketones, with subsequent eliminative ring-opening, recyclisation and tautomerisation to form unexpected hexahydropyrrolo[1,2,3de]quinoxalines.
