The preparation of colloidal, fluorescently labeled silica particles by controlled hydrolysis and polycondensation of tetramethoxysilane (TMOS) in the presence of a silylated fluorescein derivative is described. Monodisperse particles with average radii of \(80 \mathrm{~nm}\) and a narrow size distr
