✦ Synopsis

Metal-mediated cross-coupling of alkynes has been applied for the first time to C-C bond formation in Subphthalocyanines. Triiodosubphthaloeyanine 1 was reacted with the corresponding terminal alkyne in the presence of bis[triphenylphosphine]palladium (II) dichloride and copper (1) iodide to give the corresponding highly conjugated alkynyl subphthaloeyanines 2-5 in 25-30% yield.
