Abstract
The formation of Se‐core–Au‐shell and Se‐core–Ag‐shell nanoparticles by using photochemically reduced tungstosilicate Keggin ions has been described. The Se core structure serves both as a chemical and a physical template for the coating of Au and Ag. With this method, the core size and the shell thickness can be controlled by varying the conditions. With this strategy, it is possible to realize a large combination of core–shell nanostructures with potential application in engineered nanomaterials and catalysis by using Keggin ions.
