✦ Synopsis

A series of pyrimidine nucleosides modified at the C-4 position by different donor/acceptor groups has been synthesized. Since binding properties rely on the conformation of the exocyclic moiety, their structure has been determined by 2D NMR experiments and X-ray crystallography.
