✦ Synopsis

Schiff base-Cu(II) complex is found to be an effective catalyst for the condensation reaction of indole with aldehydes using ethanol as the solvent. The characterization of the catalysts was carried out using XRD and FT-IR.

## Abstract Sodium tetrafluoroborate (NaBF~4~) was found to catalyze the electrophilic substitution reactions of indoles with aldehydes and ketones under solvent‐free conditions to afford the corresponding bis(indolyl)methanes in high yields.
