In order to investigate the effect of the molecular symmetry on the light induced electron transfer in chlorin-quinone dyades we aimed at the synthesis of chlorin-quinone models 18a and 181) in which the quinone is situated at ring D adjacent to the reduced pyrrole ring A and thus orientated along the y-axis.
