✦ Synopsis
Abstract
The synthesis of the tritiated sex pheromone of the saturniid moth Antheraea polyphemus was accomplished by stereospecific T~2~ reduction of (E)‐hexadec‐6‐en‐11‐yn‐1‐yl acetate. The [11, 12‐^3^H~2~]‐(E, Z)‐6, 11‐hexadecadieny 1 acetate was then converted to the corresponding diazoacetate, a behaviorally active photoaffinity label for the A. polyphemus pheromone binding and receptor proteins. Synthesis of the enyne precursors is also described.
