✦ Synopsis

Starting with 4-thio-2'-deoxyuridine, the simple synthesis of N4-mono-and dialkyl-2'-deoxycytidines is described. The N4-methyl derivative has been incorporated into the oligonucleotide chain d(CGm4CGCG).

Among so-called unusual nucleosides found in RNAs and DNAs, N4-alkylated nucleosides
