โœฆ Synopsis

3-Methyl-l,3,5-pentanetriol has been prepared by an improved ozonolysis procedure and some of its diesters have been synthesized. Monooctanoate of the above triol was prepared by enzymatic hydrolysis of dioctanoate (54% fields of isolated product) using porcine pancreas lipase (PPL) as biocatalyst.
