✦ Synopsis

2-Amino-, and 2-alkyl-benzothiazoles have been efficiently prepared by palladium catalyzed cyclization of o-bromophenylthioureas and o-bromophenylthiamides. Results were best with the Pd 2 (dba) 3 /monophosphine catalytic system.
