Sunmary: 1,4-diketones and 4-ketoaldehydes dimethylacetals can be prepared in good yields (65%-82%) by the cerium(IV) aranonium nitrate promoted reaction of ketones with isopropenyl acetateandvinyl acetate, respectively.
