✦ Synopsis

A luminescent bicapped trinuclear copper(I) acetylide complex, [Cu 3 (m-dppm) 3 (m 3 -h 1 -C C-benzo-15-crown-5) 2 ]PF 6 , has been synthesized and its photophysical properties studied. Sodium ion-binding by the crown ether cavity has been studied by electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry and emission spectroscopy. The crystal structure of [Cu 3 (m-dppm) 3 (m 3 -h 1 -C C-benzo-15-crown-5) 2 ]PF 6 has been determined.
